How to become a client
Clients are required to join the Brighter Futures scheme for a annual payment of £10 per household. Once you are registered with Brighter Futures you will be entitled to use any of the other Brighter Futures services.
There is a charge per journey of 50p per mile calculated to and from the driver’s home with a minimum charge of £4.00.
We try to find a driver who lives close to the client in order to keep the costs as low as possible.
The information we need
You will be asked to fill in a form so we get an idea of how much help you need.
We will ask you for your name, address, telephone number and an idea of your age.
Notice
We like to have as much notice as possible of your appointments, preferably a minimum of 48 hours.
If your journey is in the evening or weekend, we would appreciate a little more notice.
Car parking
If drivers have to pay car parking fees whilst waiting for you, the amount will be added to your bill.
If you are registered with the blue badge scheme please take the badge with you.
Waiting
Drivers will wait up to one hour.
If an appointment is likely to last longer than that, the driver may go home and return for you later.
This will obviously make your journey more expensive.
Drivers
Our drivers are all volunteers who use their own cars and give up their free time to help the local community.
We pay them a petrol allowance for the miles they drive. They have insurance and are police checked.
Payment
Please DO NOT PAY THE DRIVER (you will be invoiced monthly).
We endeavour to keep costs as low as possible and do not make a profit from the scheme.
We are grateful for donations, however small, to help us continue this vital service.
A bill will be sent to you at the end of the month in which the drive(s) take place. We appreciate payment within a fortnight if possible.
Cancellations
Please inform us as early as possible if your journey is cancelled.
If you fail to do this and our driver has a wasted journey, you will, unfortunately, have to be charged a cancellation fee.
